Russell started racing in the early 80's with the NWSA. Started with a 440 mod drag sled then switched to 440 mod oval. A couple years latter he added a sprint 540 to the fleet then in 88 he began running 340 s/m. Russell raced oval until 94 when the NWSA shutdown.Russell won numerous high point championships on all three sleds.Russell also traveled abroad to Eagle River World Championships in 88,89&90 placing third in pro sprint in 88 and competing in formula 1 in 89,90 making it to the last chance qualifier both years.He also traveled to Beausejour the first time in 88 winning an amazing four firsts and a second. Russell attended Beausejour numerous more times before stopping oval racing in 94. Russell continued to race 440 o/m ice drags, snow drags and asphalt drag sled. In 06 Russell restored his 440 mod oval sled and went back to Beausejour to race vintage 440 s/m.In 2011 we built a 440 ifs for the Jerry Bunke memorial race.Russell won the Jerry Bunke in 2013 &17 and placed second two other times. Russell ventured back to the states to race Irowood Mich and Eagle river in 2014 winning four classes in Ironwood and two world championships in 340 ifsx and 340 ifs masters.Russell would return to Eagle river in 2015,16 to win championship on his 440 ifs and 340 ifs in 15 two more on his 340 ifs in 16, he also attended Wausau winning both 340,440 ifs classes, then on to Alexandria winning masters and placing with the 440 & 340 ifs in 2015,16.In 2017 Russell would return to Alexandria to win the ten lap 340 ifs feature and the master race.he would then go on to win all three of his classes at Wausau the next weekend. Russell won the Bunke again in 2019 then again in 2020. In 2020 Russell debut his champ 440.
